New cursive font

We have a new font!

Our new cursive font is lowercase letters. The font is a bit large, and won't work on the Family Circle or Family Circle birthstone necklaces.

It will work on the initial necklaces, the large family circle necklace, family ties necklace, silver petite name, it's a boy/girl necklace, the Je T'aime necklace, the Shine Brightly necklace, Wish upon a star, Blessed beyond measure, the Lucky necklace, and the Hugs and Kisses.

What do you think? I love it!

Tutorial Tuesday

When I was in high school I had an old pair of jeans that I no longer wanted. At the time I had been making lots of different bags and experimenting with designs. I had the idea to make my old pair of jeans into a bag, and it worked perfectly! The pockets were already built in, and it was a quick and easy bag, and super fun!

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to try making a jean bag again, so I turned a jean skirt into this:
This bag has become our soccer bag. Drinks fit perfectly in the pockets, and the inside is great for a first aid kit and clipboard for my hubby, the coach.

So of course I loved finding this tutorial on how to turn a pair of jeans into a gorgeous bag!

Attention Scrapbookers in Utah!

My cousin is liquidating her scrapbook business!
In her words:

We have a ton, (and when I say a ton, I mean it) of scrapbooking supplies from our online scrapbooking business. We are in the process of moving, and need to liquidate as much inventory as possible so we don't have to move it all. We are having a yard sale tomorrow, Sat the 22nd from 9 am-noon. I am pricing everything at our cost just to clear it out. I have paper, scrapbooks, rub-ons, stickers, all kinds of embellishments, paints, stamps, etc. We have many brands and over 1500 different items in stock. We also have many items available in bulk form, for those who are sellers themselves like on ebay for example. Any items purchased in bulk will have additional savings.

So if you're interested in wholesale scrapbook supplies be sure to stop by her house tomorrow!
The address is 7622 Bridle Creek Drive (about 5320 West) in West Jordan.

Want those new school clothes to last longer?

It's back to school time for us. I love buying new clothes for my kids to wear to school, but I don't love it when they fall apart! So here are some tips on making those clothes last longer:

1. Watch fabric content! 100% cotton will shrink, fade, and wear out more quickly. Look for a blend with at least 35% polyester.

2. Sew an X at the top of pleats on a pleated skirt. This will keep pleats from unraveling and they'll hold together a lot longer.

3. Sew interfacing or a patch into the knees of pants before the knees start to wear out. They'll last a lot longer!

4. Once your kids' jeans start fraying at the cuffs apply some Fray Check to the frayed hem. It will hold together much longer!

Children's wall art

A few years ago I was searching for the perfect alphabet poster
for my son's room.
I found something that worked, but never completely loved it.

But I totally love this idea!

Sarah Hartill used alphabet flashcards to create
a fun and educational piece of art. So smart!

Spinach Smoothie

Seriously!

I kept hearing people talking about Spinach Smoothies (on Twitter),
so I had to try it for myself.
My kids are picky, really picky. They don't like most vegetables.
And this is an easy way to get leafy greens
and lots of fruits into their diet.

And you can't taste the spinach-- at all!

Fruity Smoothie
1 apple sliced, not peeled
2 oranges peeled and sectioned
3 ice cubes
a handful of blackberries
around 10 strawberries
2-3 handfuls of spinach
1/4 cup sugar
around 1/4 cup of milk to get the blender going

Blend and enjoy!

BananaBerry Smoothie
1 ripe banana, peeled
2 nectarines, pit removed
around 10 strawberries
1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
2-3 handfuls of spinach
1/4 cup sugar
around 1/4 cup of milk to get the blender going

Blend and enjoy!

Want to make a green smoothie? Try blending the spinach with an apples and a banana.
The variations are endless, and it's hard to go wrong with most combinations of fruit.

A little tip: to keep your smoothie more purple rather than a yucky brown be sure to include darker fruits (I used blackberries and blueberries).
