Flickr Friday: Baby Elephant at the zoo

Are you all familiar with Flickr?
I love their tagline, "Share your photos, watch the world."
People from all over the world upload photos on flickr, for everyone to see.
And there are some amazing photos!

Today instead of braving the crowds
at the department stores,
we took a family trip to the zoo.

We loved seeing the baby elephant
with her mother!
Aren't they sweet?!

New Keyrings in the shop!

Just in time for Christmas (I can't believe how soon it will be here!)
we've added 2 new keyrings.

We're no longer able to offer the thick copper rectangle keyrings from last year,
so this dogtag style copper is replacing it.

These are perfect for the guys in your life!
Find them right now in my shop.

Tutorial Tuesday

This project is so simple that you don't really need a tutorial,
but I created a short one just in case you need a little help...

Several months ago my friend Char posted the cutest cake plate on her blog
that she had made from a plate and a bowl glued together.
I made one of my own that week and have used it as a fruit stand on my counter ever since.

But I decided that I needed matching stands on each end of the centerpiece on my table.
So I stopped by Dollar Tree and picked up two each of these plates and bowls.
The color isn't exactly the same, but it was close enough.

First turn the plate upside down:

Then place the bowl on top and figure out exactly where you want it to go.
Be sure to mark it lightly so you know where to attach it:

Then you add the glue. I used gorilla glue, so following the directions I dampened one surface and then applied the glue. E6000 would also work wonderfully for this project.

The gorilla glue doesn't dry immediately
so I used a phone book to apply a bit of pressure
while it finished setting up:

And here is the final result:
I made two, and I love them! And they were easy and cheap to put together too!!

Thanksgiving Activity

Every Monday night at our house we have
Family Home Evening.

We usually end up playing a game together,
but last year we had a lesson and activity
on giving thanks.
It was perfect for this time of year,
and I think we'll do it again.

I printed out these "Thanks"

and "Giving" trees, as well as the leaves

(found here).

The kids wrote something they were thankful for on each of these leaves

and then we put them on the trees.

For the giving tree we came up with some simple things they could do to serve others,
and they wrote those on leaves to stick on the Giving Tree.

Hopefully it at least got them thinking about everything they should be thankful for!

Flickr Friday

And yet again I'm late with Flickr Friday,
sorry about that!
I didn't get a chance to go online yesterday at all.
I spent most of the day working on
cleaning my daughter's room.
Normally she cleans her own room,
but it was time for an overhaul.

She's "cleaned" her room too many times
by just placing everything out of sight.

I'm glad to say that we did finish it up,
and her room is so much better now.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand...

And there are some amazing photos!

This week my husband was out of town
on a business trip.
I wish I could have gone with him this time,
because he went to San Diego.

We've been there,
but it was years ago--
before we had kids.

He came back with some amazing photos,
and they were taken with his phone!

This one isn't his,
but it is the area where he stayed.
Gorgeous!!!
